Celebrating (sort of…) Karva Chauth in India
Some friends and I were invited for a mehndi party. Mehndi refers to the henna tattoos that Indian women put on their hands (and sometimes feet) for special occasions. In this case, the party was the night before Karva Chauth. This is a holiday that is celebrated primarily in north India when women fast and pray all day for the well-being and longevity of their husbands.
